Construction law
Building is expensive enough. A construction dispute should not make it more so.
A construction project brings many parties with different interests to the table: owner, architect, contractor, neighbours, authorities. I advise private clients and companies throughout Switzerland on contracts, permits and defects, and represent them when a dispute arises. As President of the Federal Assessment Commission District 12, I also know the valuation of land at first hand.

Typical situations
Does one of these sound familiar?
Then a short conversation is worthwhile. Often, 30 minutes are enough to see which options you have and what the next step is.
- After moving in, defects appear and the contractor turns a deaf ear.
- You have done work as a tradesperson and the owner does not pay.
- The neighbouring project takes away your view and you want to know whether an objection has any chance.
- In the condominium owners' association, one party is blocking every renovation.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about Construction law.
Immediately upon discovery, verifiably in writing. Under the law (Art. 367 and 370 CO), inspection and notice of defects must be made without delay. Under SIA Standard 118, longer notice periods apply, but it must have been agreed. Those who wait too long lose their claims. When in doubt: give notice, then seek advice.
